Dupixent, also known by its generic name dupilumab, is a prescription medication used to treat several conditions related to allergic reactions and inflammation. It is administered via subcutaneous injection and is available in different dosages.

Dupixent is designed to treat:

• chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyposis,

To inject Dupixent, there are several steps to take.

1. Get together some gauze or a cotton ball, an alcohol wipe, a container for sharps disposal, and one prefilled syringe of Dupixent. Look at the pen to make sure it isn’t damaged.
2. Lay it down on a flat surface to let it get to room temperature. Allow it to lay flat for about 45 minutes before you use it. Wash your hands with soap and choose a site to inject the pen. This can be in the thighs, abdomen, or upper arms.
3. Next, use the alcohol wipe to clean the injection site. Let your skin get completely dry.
4. Take the cap off the injection pen.
5. Pinch the skin at the injection site.
6. Hold the pen at the injection site so that you are able to see the window on it, pressing it firmly into the skin until you can’t see the needle cover. The pen will click when the injection starts.
7. As the window starts to turn yellow, watch it until it’s completely yellow, and the pen clicks a second time.
8. Then, count to five and pull straight upward to remove the pen.
9. If there is blood, use the gauze or cotton ball to clean it.
10. Dispose of the pen in a sharps container.

Every person should be properly trained before attempting to administer the medication to themselves or another person. Talk to your doctor about the training.
