This medication is designed to be used once per day no matter what strength is being used. COPD and asthma patients are both often prescribed the 100/62.5/25 mcg version of the medication. Instructions for Use

3. Patients should then bring the mouthpiece of the device to their mouth and place the curved piece between their lips. A long and steady breath should then be taken (only through the mouth and not the nose).
4. Patients should then pull the inhaler away from their face and hold their breath for at least 3-4 seconds. Not all patients may feel or taste the medication and they should not take an additional dose if this is the case.
5. Use a dry tissue to clean the mouthpiece if necessary and then slide the cover back up for as far as it will go.
6. Rinse the mouth with water after inhaling the medication and spit it out without swallowing

Long-acting beta2-adrenergic agonists like vilanterol (which is used in this medication) have been linked to a higher risk of asthma-related hospitalizations and deaths when they are used on their own. Studies have not shown a meaningful increase in the risk of asthma-related hospitalization or death when a LABA is used together with an ICS.
